Information About Dr. Weinman
Dr. Weinman then went to Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania as the Medicare Medical Director and was promoted to Vice President of Provider Services. He was responsible for the physician and facility component of the company's provider network with a 620,000 subscriber population. In addition, he was involved in provider strategies, credentialing functions, audit and reimbursement systems, contracting as well as the Quality Management and Utilization Review Programs. Dr. Weinman's professional activities expand beyond the walls of an office. He has been a surveyor for NCQA since 1994, and was an instructor in managed Care in the Public Health Administration program at Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Dr. Weinman is board-certified by the American Board of Family Practice (ABFP) and the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians (ABQAURP). He received his medical degree from Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, New York, and his MBA in Health Services Administration from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. A unique expert in his field, Dr. Weinman has been published extensively and
is a frequent guest on the healthcare lecturer's circuit. The topics that he

For more than 25 years, Dr. Weinman was a family
physician in private practice in New York. When his practice was acquired by an
HMO in 1990, he became the company's director of medical management, and
eventually, the President and Medical Director of its MSO. The MSO managed a
primary care network for 25,000 patients. 1n 1993, Dr. Weinman become the
Medical Director for a national healthcare company, in which he had oversight
responsibilities for primary care facilities plus utilization review and
quality assurance activities.
